Annie get your gun

After our lesson of learning about blocks and patterns i had to run for my life down to Chatham station , i had to wait ten Min's for a train .Panicking i might add.
The reason being my mum had bought me and my daughter Poppy tickets to go and see 'Annie get your gun` it started at 7 30pm and i had to get home from uni, change and make myself look beautiful and get into london for the curtain to go up.
when i eventually got home i was meant to have left ten minuets ago my mum was on the phone 'where are you?`but by the Grace of God i got there and in my seat 2 mins after the curtain went up .
we werent sat with my mum, so had to wait for the interval to find her but the main thing was id got there and not missed any of it.
I hadn't seen the production before. I knew alot of the songs amd i vaguely think i might have seen a film of it a hundred years ago.

I don't know what i expected but i thought it was really well done . Jane Horrocks played Annie Oakly and she played the part so well, her voice was fantastic and to keep the American accent up all the way through was pretty impressive .The main man julian Ovenden who played Frank was extremely good looking, fantastic voice . The two of them together had a definite spark between them and as they where so good together made the production so lovely. My favorite character was Charlie, Played by John Marquez his side kick dolly, Played by Liza Sadovy. The two of them where really fun and really brought the fun right from the start.
When the curtain went up it started with a cinema screen with a kind of rubbishy cowboy and Indian old style film which was clever as it set the scene for as the proper curtain went up you really felt like you were there in the old cafe with them .
The costumes where really good also they were all able to dance and move around the stage which i would imagine is an important factor when designing the clothes, as it would be easy to design way out outfits but the actor needs to be comfortable and able to dance as well as play the character.
what i really liked about this production it was very simple and rustic like it should be, but not in the way that they were skimping on things .
On two of the scenes they were meant to be on the train, it was clever how they did it by putting a row of chairs along the front of the stage and behind them they had a suspended conveyor belt with props such as mountains, and telegraph poles and trees which were moving along the conveyor belt with one of the ensemble sitting either end to put the objects on then another to take them off . It was very funny but well thought out and worked well.
So over all the acting was great, the singing and dancing was fantastic the costumes were beautiful the whole thing i would recommend anyone to go to this really fun show and find your self singing along to anything you can do i can do better!!!!!
Now i have sent an email to the head of costumes and props asking if it would be possible to go back stage to look at the costumes, stage scenery and the props as i am doing theatre production at university. I was really surprised to get a reply the next morning saying that it wasn't possible to go back stage after the production but to give her a ring and arrange to go during the day. So this i shall do and will write my blog after i have done this i cant wait!!!!
