WAR. the making of our puppet show

The making process was hard as I had to work out how to get a dragon shape and for it to be able to have movement also.
I tried a few different things but what I found to be most effective was to make cardboard tubes enforced with dowel rod and pva glue.

The head I ended up making three heads until  I was happy with one these are heads one and two.

Head three was so much more successful even though at this stage he does look a little like a griffin but I could work with this one.

I made his eyes and nostrils out of newspaper and glue and stuck them in place his ears i cut out of cardboard once all this was dry a covered it all in muslin and glue to give it some strength.

These were the mosque pillars that were made for the dragon to knock over in the destruction scene.
The mother and the boy with the book THE ILLIAD these were all set up ready for our first rehearsal.
Katie and Sam beautifully painted the mosques while I desperately  worked to get the dragon finished.

The body slowly taking shape !!!!

The head I am really pleased with just need to add the bottle top for the armour now.

The wings are coming together .

The boy and the bed looking good we are so close to finishing now.

The Iliad just made from a box and polystyrene but it really looks like a 30000 year oil book!!!!

The back drop that the two pillars will stand in front of that the dragon will knock over.

The mass bottle top operation oh boy does it take a long time as with pliers I have to pull all the edges out then hammer them flat I was going to sew them on but as time was drastically running out i had to glue them on with the glue gun and gained a huge amount of burns.
The last time we get to rehearse oh scary stuff we need more time oh no!!!!

The finished dragon head I am really happy with him.

Waiting to do our performance!!!
It went fantastically well we got really good feed back as we left the stage but we were all really happy how it went nothing went wrong like it had done in our rehearsals so yippee!!!!
Now to get my learning journal finished and handed in and see how we do in our grades.
